The Triumph X75 Hurricane stands out as one of the boldest British motorcycles ever built. With its American styling, triple-cylinder engine, and signature one-piece tank and seat unit, the Hurricane has become a collectible icon. At Angloclassics, work is currently underway to restore one of these rare machines—a project that’s already involved some unique challenges and careful decision-making.

Frame Repair: A Key Milestone

One of the biggest hurdles early in the build came from discovering poor welding around the headstock of the original frame—something that could compromise both safety and rideability. Fortunately, a donor frame from another Hurricane was sourced, and the headstock graft is now being finalised. Once complete, it will provide a structurally sound and accurate base for the rest of the build.

Engine and Gearbox Progress

With the frame work nearing completion, attention will soon return to the engine. The primary drive and gearbox have already been rebuilt, and the top end—including the barrels—will be reassembled once the rolling chassis is back together. This staged approach ensures all fitment and alignment issues are addressed before the engine is fully sealed up.

Cleaning, Prepping, and Parts Planning

Parts cleanup and organisation have continued alongside the major structural work. The barrels have already been cleaned and inspected, and components are being catalogued for smoother reassembly down the track. The goal is to stay methodical—balancing progress with attention to detail.

Once the frame is finished, mock assembly will begin. This will include fitting the forks, wheels, and bodywork to check clearances, routing, and overall alignment before final paint and finishes are applied.

What’s Next

Once fully assembled and road-tested, this Hurricane will be offered for sale—continuing the Angloclassics tradition of restoring rare machines to a high standard before passing them on to new custodians. While the project is still in the mid-stages, key foundations are already in place, setting the scene for an exciting final build phase.
