Ex-USA Matching Numbers 1969 Triumph Trident T150 US Spec 'Beauty Kit'. We imported this a few years ago and has gone a through a slow rebuild since then. This included a full engine rebuild. It is now fresh and ready for the new owner to run in. The engine was pulled apart and put back together in it's previous USA life so we have had it rebuilt from the crank up. This included new rods, pistons valve guides as well as necessary procedures such as crank re-grind and sludge trap clean. All engine work has been completed by an ex-White's motorcycle tech. Running on brand new .020" pistons this machine is ready for the new owner to run in. It's fully complied and road legal with an indicator exemption. These 'Beauty Kit' models are getting harder to find.
The 1969 Triumph Trident initially struggled with its unconventional 'Breadbox' Ogle design, including "ray-gun" silencers and a distinctive "breadbox" fuel tank, which alienated traditional buyers despite being marketed as a cutting-edge model. However, in 1970, American dealers introduced the "Beauty Kit" to reframe its aesthetic appeal. This kit featured a 650 Trophy-style fuel tank and traditional barrel-shaped mufflers, and Bonneville grab rail evoking the classic Triumph twin design. The transformation resonated well with consumers, prompting Triumph to standardize the new look on U.S. models by 1971, helping to stabilize the Trident's image in the competitive market. Many bikes which were still sitting around unsold were given the Beauty Kit upgrade including this example.
