A well looked after survivor we have brought it back to life with a refurbishment. We were told the superblends have been done in the past and having done 15,000 miles we believe that would be true. While inspecting the bore we saw hone marks were still visible so believe this to have had an overhaul not too long ago. Still with it's original twin amals carburettors and air filter setup. It even has original Norton logo stamped peashooters. Our homage to the original Cafe Racers of the 60's. We took a 1967 Norton Atlas slimline frame and have powered it with a 1972 Triumph T120 engine to create our own version of the famous cafe racer. We started right back from a bare frame to complete a full build. Being a Triton, we were able to add our own twists and ideas into what suits our tastes while keeping the traditions at heart. For those of you worrying, we did not separate a matching frame/engine Atlas for the project (we would never dare!).

For the engine, or 'Tri' part of the project we went with a fully rebuilt '72 Triumph T120 with a Morgo 750 big bore kit. It has a 7 plate clutch for light and trouble free clutch action. It was decided to go with a Boyer electronic ignition using a single coil to save space. Podtronics were also installed for reliability and space saving. The wiring harness is a new but modified Norton Commando harness.

For the frame part of the project - the 'ton'. We went with a 67 Atlas slimline frame mainly because they were easier to find than the earlier wideline frames. We used the famous Dresda brand for engine plates. We decided to paint these black rather than the bare metal type, we have added more black to the project than the basic metal/chrome look and this was a early route we decided to go with just to make ours a bit different. The original slimline swingarm was retained as we were happy with it's condition. We also kept the Atlas instrument panel but used a 71 Commando front end - yoke, fork sliders and TLS brake. With this instrument panel we added a few modern extras such as a voltage gauge and LED warning lights with icons. Just for kicks it was decided to add a Norton Commando frame ID plate - with a build date of 2024.

Being a Triton, pretty much everything is made to our own tastes.

This bike placed 3rd in the 'Custom' category in the 2025 NZ Motorcycle Show.

Work done(everything really):
- Fully rebuilt commando front end with TLS brake
- New Dunlop TT100 tyres
- New rear shocks Atlas type
- Customised wiring harness
- Pazon Electronic Ignition and single coil
- Mini battery located under seat hump
- Folding kick start
- Podtronics regulator/rectifier
- LED lighting including idiot lights
- LED voltage indicator
- Oil Pressure gauge
- Wassel Carbs
- Bellmouth air intakes
- 5 Gallon Manx Style fuel tank
- Modern switchgear
- Dresda Rearsets
- Dresda engine plate and head steady
- Norton type Oil Filter
- RGM Norton side stand (modified)
- Big bore exhaust pipes
- Reverse cone silencers
- Overhauled and cermakromed wheels
- Painted and striped tanks in Manx style

and much much more...

This bike has had hundreds of hours and a lot of money put into it to get it just how we would like our own Triton. The kit replaced the factory Ogle-designed ‘breadbox’ tank and ray-gun silencers with more traditional Triumph items: a 650-style fuel tank, barrel-style mufflers, and a Bonneville grab rail. The result was a look that aligned more closely with Triumph’s twin-cylinder range and helped broaden the Trident’s appeal in the U.S. market.

Since arriving, the bike has undergone a full engine rebuild and a methodical recommissioning process. Although the engine had previously been pulled apart in its U.S. ownership, it was stripped and rebuilt properly from the crank up. The rebuild included a crank regrind, new rods, +.020" pistons, new valve guides, and a cleaned sludge trap. A Tri-Spark ignition system has been fitted for improved reliability, and an LP Williams anti-drain valve has been installed. A Triples Unlimited clutch ramp modification was installed so it has a nice light clutch action.

The carbs have been replaced with brand new Wassell Evolutions, a new 19T gearbox sprocket fitted, and an oil pressure gauge added for peace of mind. New Dunlop TT100 tyres and freshly repainted tank and guards make it look the part - photos don't do it justice. The bike is still being run in. Have done many miles testing and fine tuning - it goes and rides very well. It does not blow smoke, has good compression and oil pressure. A great sounding Triple, much more money was spent on this restoration than the asking price - our loss your gain.

Work done:
- Full Engine crank up rebuild
- Sludge trap cleaned
- New +.020" Pistons
- New valve guides
- TriSpark ignition system
- LP Williams anti-drain valve installed
- New front/rear Dunlop TT100 Tyres
- Oil Pressure Gauge installed
- New carbs with lighter T160 springs
- New 19T gearbox sprocket
- Repainted Tank and Guards
- Replaced swing arm bushes
- New rear shocks
- Refurbished seat
- Magnetic sump plate installed
- New front wheel bearings

Receipts included

As with all our old bikes as they are over 50 years old they are sold in a 'As Is' condition with no warranty.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0616/1124/5724/files/rn-image_picker_lib_temp_e2eb7e71-a36c-4a25-be01-f4e201cb13bb.png?v=1762652160
